Professor Linda Bauld has issued a warning ahead of COP26 in Glasgow (PA)

An adviser to Nicola Sturgeon’s Government is concerned the COP26 climate crisis summit in Glasgow could cause a spike in covid cases.

Professor Linda Bauld also said there is a “reservoir of infection” throughout the UK following the lifting of coronavirus restrictions.

Although infection numbers in Scotland have stabilised, the NHS is still facing unprecedented pressures going into the winter.

COP26 , which starts on October 31st and lasts for a fortnight, is expected to attract world leaders and tens of thousands of delegates from across the world.

Couple who quit rat race to live in camper van forced to isolate in tiny space after catching Covid

A couple who quit the rat race to live in a campervan are now being forced to isolate in the tiny vehicle after catching corona .

Campbell Kerr and Gemma Spence quit their jobs three years ago to blog about their travels and moved into a mobile home permanently this summer to explore the west coast of Scotland.

Their travel writing has made them a hit online, notching up a huge following of outdoor enthusiasts.

But their journey came to a juddering halt when the pair, from Renfrewshire, both tested positive for the virus last week - leaving them holed up in their van with no contact allowed with the outside world.

Mum has leg amputated after being struck by car while walking home from party

A young Scots mum had her leg amputated after being struck by a car while walking home from a party with a pal.

Emergency services raced to a service station close to the Great Western retail park in Glasgow around 1.20am on Sunday October 3 after a car was involved in a collision with two pedestrians.

The 22-year-old woman who was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries has been named as Kerrie Lavery.

Doctor groped female patient’s breasts while performing chest examination

A Scots doctor groped a female patient's breasts while performing a chest examination.

Colin Wilson has been struck off after he touched the woman at his surgery in Oban , Argyll.

The lady had been attending with her three-year-old son who had a chesty cough and shortness of breath.

After examining the child, Wilson then carried out a check-up of the woman, known only as Patient A, who had complained about a sore throat and swollen glands.

But following a throat examination, she was left stunned when the medic put his hands up her jumper and t-shirt and cupped her breasts in December 2017.

Scots man lost £60k to gambling addiction that started with 50p bets

An Edinburgh man who lost £60,000 of redundancy pay to his betting addiction has launched a support service to help others who are suffering.

Chris Lee, from Canonmills , has opened up about his troubled past in the hope of inspiring others who may be struggling with a gambling problem .

The 54-year-old began betting in 1981 after a 50p flutter returned winnings of just over £4, with his addiction snowballing from there.

A former British Gas worker, Chris would place wagers on any and all sporting events, including football, boxing and horse racing.

But he says the real problem arose when mobile/online gambling became available on smartphones.

EuroMillions still waiting for winner as £184m jackpot rolls over - when is next draw?

The EuroMillions £184million jackpot is still waiting for its lucky winner after no one claimed it last night.

This means the massive prize will be pushed to Friday’s draw.

Anticipation surrounding this potential record breaking win is fit to burst - this jackpot would beat the largest previous British win of £170million in 2019.
