Secret Britain
9pm, BBC1

More people are holidaying in the UK, and whether that’s down to Coast or Tony Robinson’s walks or not, there is certainly no shortage of shows promoting verdant glades and dramatic dales over tanning in the Med. Here, Ellie Harrison and Adam Henson share lesser-known beauty spots, as recommended by the public. Tonight’s episode focuses on the “water world” of Wales. The scenery is spectacular, but the script is much more tough going. John Robinson

Britain’s Jihadi Brides
9pm, BBC2

A This World special, which uses reconstructions and online material to show how Islamic State is trying to lure away many more young British girls than those who have already disappeared. They target girls, hoping they will start families in the new caliphate, exploiting their sense of religious identity and even love of kittens in their propaganda. All this may be so, but it would be nice to hear about the vast majority of Muslim youth who ignore these blandishments, rather than the few who don’t. David Stubbs

DCI Banks
9pm, ITV

Featuring an undercover cop who ran out on a relationship with an activist and arrogant posh people displaying a sense of entitlement, the final episode of the current series of DCI Banks arguably tries a little too hard to be relevant. Especially as the show is essentially a rather old-fashioned police procedural. No matter: as hangdog Banks (Stephen Tompkinson) and co try to work out who killed student Josh Tate, it’s solidly entertaining and, as the final scenes in particular prove, oftentimes packs a real emotional punch. Jonathan Wright

The Island With Bear Grylls
9pm, Channel 4

Bear thinks modern life has made us flabby. So he’s plonking 14 men and 14 women on two remote Pacific islands to see how they fare. “Will it be brute power [pauses for footage of blokes thrashing a bush] or mental strength [clip of women hugging one another] that wins the day?” Tomorrow we meet the women, but tonight it’s the blokes, a short-fused bunch of builders, paramedics and web developers, making a right hash of hunter-gathering during a torrential tropical downpour. Ali Catterall

Treasures of Ancient Greece
9pm, BBC4

The debut of a three-part series presented by art critic Alastair Sooke, part of BBC4’s current Age of Heroes season on ancient Greece. In this opening episode, Sooke establishes his theory that the ancient Greeks not only bequeathed an astonishing artistic legacy, but also set the benchmarks by which we still judge art, or at least art with any ambition of reflecting reality. Sooke visits such locations as Knossos and Mycenae to demonstrate that, ironically, this resonant celebration of the natural world was rooted in mythology. Andrew Mueller

Two and a Half Men
9pm, Comedy Central

The final episode of the US sitcom that survived for 12 seasons by being as crude and creepy as possible. No time for cheap misogyny here, though, since there are a lot of in-jokes to get through. In-jokes about the creaky scripts, in-jokes about the guest stars (Arnold Schwarzenegger as a cop being told a tall story: “Yeah, and I’m the governor of California!”) and oh-so-many in-jokes about departed star Charlie Sheen. The closing, extremely lame meta-gag featuring creator Chuck Lorre provides one last mirthless cackle. Jack Seale

Gracepoint
10pm, ITV Encore

The US’s remake of Broadchurch, starring David Tennant as Emmett and Breaking Bad’s Anna Gunn as Ellie. Tonight, Mark Solano, father of the murdered Danny, looks to be caught in a web of his own deceit as security footage blows a giant hole in his alibi, but is the case done and dusted this early? A CSI sweep of Chloe’s room unearths a bagful of illegality, but who supplied her? Finally, an accident forces Beth to blurt out a revealing truth to a confidant with whom it seems she goes back a long way. David Stubbs
