Destination Flavour Down Under
7.30pm, Good Food

Chef Adam Liaw genially explores the finest produce of Australia and New Zealand. First he’s in hot, harsh north-western Australia, where he picks mango and tamarind from the trees, makes som tam with pearl meat, and is schooled by a grizzled, twinkling local on how to catch mud crabs by hooking them out from under tree stumps. It’s less a cookery bible, more a travel and nature show: the food feels incidental compared to the alien beauty of the landscape from which it comes. Jack Seale

The Great Comic Relief Bake Off
8pm, BBC1

The final four celebrities visit the Bake Off tent for one last slice of comic cakery. Baking beginners Alexa Chung, Kayvan Novak and Chris Moyles seemingly have trouble differentiating a rolling pin from a roasting tin, making Dinnerladies creator Victoria Wood the clear favourite. With challenges that include offering a twist on the traditional traybake, and bakers being forced to put a personal stamp on their produce, cocoa and currants aren’t the only things being pummelled into a mess. Mark Jones

Surviving Sandy Hook
9pm, BBC2

In December 2012, Adam Lanza murdered 20 children and six teachers at Sandy Hook elementary school in Connecticut. Director Jezza Neumann’s documentary, part of the This World strand, meets some of those affected and asks them to reflect on their experiences. It’s a deceptively simple approach because, in its quietly insistent way, this is a film that has much to say about survivor guilt, the need for tighter gun control, and the way in which people find hope and purpose even amid unimaginable tragedy. Jonathan Wright

DCI Banks
9pm, ITV

Crumple-faced Banks (Stephen Tompkinson) returns for a new series, with problems in his personal life and a new murder case to solve. He’s wading through grief and his on-off love interest Annie (Andrea Lowe) is back with her ex. But, with an Estonian woman buried alive, there’s work to be done, and as Banks and DI Helen Morton (Caroline Catz) begin to investigate they uncover an escort agency that’s not as above-board as its proprietors claim. It’s no Broadchurch, but the twists keep coming, so it’s worth a look. Hannah Verdier

Blue Bloods
9pm, Sky Atlantic

Following the Reagan family of Irish-American police officers, Blue Bloods has always felt like one of the more conservative cop procedurals; the anti-Wire. Tonight, however, they tackle “poor doors”, as much of an issue in New York as they are in Boris Johnson’s London: property developers being allowed to build separate entrances for lower-income residents. It’s the murder of one such resident that Donnie Wahlberg’s Danny and Baez (Marisa Ramirez) are called to investigate in one of the worthier episodes of this series. David Stubbs

Being Bipolar
10pm, Channel 4

Bipolar diagnoses have tripled in Britain in the past 20 years. Has a complex condition been defined too narrowly? Philippa Perry meets three sufferers, to witness their crippling lows and scary highs. She expects there to be overlooked traumas in their pasts; some hackles will rise at the psychotherapist questioning the efficacy of psychiatric drugs, but at the very least Perry’s nuanced approach shows the dialogue is worth starting. What’s not in doubt is the bravery of the participants in this moving documentary. JS

Farage Fans & Ukip Lovers
10pm, Channel 5

In the wake of BBC2’s Meet The Ukippers and Channel 4’s docudrama Ukip: The First 100 Days, this is Channel 5’s attempt to capitalise on the nation’s apparently unquenchable thirst for all things Farage. Endless media coverage aside, Ukip seems to be attracting a growing voting bloc, but what exactly do their supporters think the party can achieve on their behalf? Father-and-son fishermen air their grievances about the impact of EU quotas, while a self-proclaimed “rightwing anarchist” seems keen to deregulate everything. Graeme Virtue
