The Interceptor
9pm, BBC1
This episode begins with Ash (OT Fagbenle) and the rest of Unit tracking “the Viking”, a cool, blond drug trafficker. Spoiler: that’s it. It’s a set-up with no punchline, a book with only the first chapter. Zooming in to a single element of the larger investigation – they need to tail this guy to see which big player he’s supplying – could be good in a show where details are crafted and dialogue is its own pleasure. But this is The Interceptor, so instead we plod slowly and functionally to nowhere special. Jack Seale
Long Lost Family
9pm, ITV
Nicky Campbell and Davina McCall preside over another pair of emotional family reunions. Tonight’s episode centres on two sets of siblings separated due to adoption. Along with daughter Janice, Elizabeth from Somerset hopes to track down Brian, the child she was forced to give up when her relationship broke down some 50 years ago. Tracey from Peterborough is also on the search for her brother Thomas, whose existence was hidden from her until her late teens. A difficult watch, but the end results are consistently poignant. The Affair
9pm, Sky Atlantic
This has been a great series, albeit deeply uncomfortable at times in its depiction of how personal desire militates against family ties and which of those competing forces ultimately has more meaning; all of which will hit painfully home for all too many. The narrative structure only enhances the highly subjective impulses of the characters. Tonight, Dominic West’s novelist continues to plan for his future with Alison, though fully aware of the effect his broken relationship with Helen is having on his children. David Stubbs
Shahs Of Sunset
9pm, Lifetime
Glamorous new reality show starring a group of Persian-American socialites who bicker, shop and drink expensive fizz. Asa is in the recording studio, sipping diamond water and laying down some “post-trip-hop galactical Persian vibes”. Meanwhile, warring Reza and GG clear the air over a bottle of chardonnay. There’s only one thing for it: a champagne-tasting party with loads of reluctant air kissing, which climaxes in a big row over nothing. A Kardashian-style escape to a world full of shallow drama and big money. Hannah Verdier
Kids In Crisis?
10pm, Channel 4
It’s impossible not to arrive at the conclusion that the budget-slashed mental health service has fallen between the cracks somewhat. As tough as this is on adults, it must be frankly horrific for youngsters such as the four featured here, often facing arduous cross-country journeys to seek care unavailable in their local area: kids such as 13-year-old Oli and 17-year-old Chloe from Cornwall, 15-year-old Beth from Hull, and Emily from Belfast, who must travel to England to receive treatment for an eating disorder. Ali Catterall
SunTrap
10.35pm, BBC1
Final episode of the sun-splashed sitcom-slash-showreel for Kayvan Novak. Brutus’s bar is to be snapped up by a property developer, resulting in a handsome handout for Brutus and a looming eviction notice for Woody. Luckily for him, small-time boat tour operator Pirate Pete has a problem with an overly competitive rival and is willing to lavish lucre on anyone able to uncover evidence of criminal wrongdoing. Less luckily, a plot by actual pirates to nobble the investigative reporter seems to be afoot. Mark Jones
On The Edge And Online
11pm, Channel 4
Porn, nasty personal abuse, religious radicalisation and more porn: Tim Berners-Lee must occasionally look upon his invention and despair. Still, this touching film – which follows isolated young people battling with mental illness and gaining succour from talking on Skype with fellow sufferers – illuminates some of the internet’s more benign aspects. Inevitably, much of the progress on display is of the two steps forward, one step back variety, but that’s significantly better than no progress at all. Phil Harrison
