Our School
6pm, CBBC

A junior take on the fly-on-the-wall school doc trend popularised by the Educating … franchise, this series has followed new pupils at a Stockton-on-Tees secondary school over the course of 15 episodes. While some have had a smooth transition from primary school, others have struggled to adjust, or required support for disabilities such as dyspraxia and ADHD. In this final instalment, there’s an end-of-term talent show and a party for the increasingly independent year sevens. Hannah J Davies

Capital One Cup Football: Bournemouth v Liverpool
7pm, Sky Sports 1

Given that it’s sandwiched between fixtures against Manchester United and Arsenal, there may be a temptation for Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers to rest players in this League Cup quarter-final. Bournemouth, though, shouldn’t be underestimated: Eddie Howe’s charges currently sit third in the Championship, having not lost since September, and they have already knocked out Premier League opponents in the form of West Brom. Gwilym Mumford

The Apprentice
9pm, BBC1

Penultimate visit to Britain’s leading schadenfreude sideshow, and the final five candidates must reveal individual business plans to Lord Sugar’s cabal of advisers. While in theory the remaining apprentices possess the nimblest of business brains, there’s a “homework-on-the-bus-to-school” feel to some of their pitches, leading to confrontations that will leave nail marks in your whitened palms. With advisers especially keen on playing Ker-Plunk with the candidates’ self-confidence, it’ll take something exceptional to win them over. Mark Jones

Secrets Of The Castle With Ruth, Peter And Tom
9pm, BBC2

Final episode of the living-in-the-past doc series and the presenters consider the wider medieval world. The main point seems to be that 13th-century Europe was bustling and connected. Going on pilgrimage, for example, enabled ordinary folk to tramp far beyond village boundaries. Elsewhere, dogs’-best-friend Peter extols the virtues of pig fat as a moisturiser, Tom helps create a kitchen door, and Ruth prepares gingerbread using spices that would have been more valuable than gold. Jonathan Wright

Hit And Run
9pm, ITV

In 2013, more than 1,500 people were killed or seriously injured on UK roads by drivers who failed to stop. What is it that makes some drivers flee the scene? Using reconstructions, on-scene footage and interviews, this documentary follows the work of the police “collision investigators”, whose job it is to pick up the pieces: tracing the vehicles involved, then identifying and pursuing convictions against the drivers. We also meet some of the victims’ bereaved families. Bim Adewunmi

The British Comedy Awards 2014
9pm, Channel 4

Now in its 25th year, the British Comedy awards remains that rare thing: an awards ceremony with the potential for something unpredictable and interesting to happen. Still, some things are guaranteed: Jonathan Ross will say something deeply off-colour, making the audience “Ooh” like mischievous schoolchildren. Leading the nominations with six is Matt Berry’s shouty-voiced sitcom Toast Of London, while among those competing for the King Or Queen Of Comedy award are David Mitchell, Jo Brand and Greg Davies. The Fight For Saturday Night
9pm, BBC4

In the days when tellies were seemingly hewn from granite quarries, had just three channels, and turned in early with a mug of Ovaltine, the battle for Saturday night ratings was a brutal war of attrition, as Michael Grade vividly describes in this look back. Featured here is how Game For A Laugh outplayed The Generation Game; how Auntie turned down Pop Idol; and how LWT was holed below the waterline on its 1968 launch night, when the technicians went on strike. The Newsroom
10pm, Sky Atlantic

The last episode of Aaron Sorkin’s series about a cable news channel battling against corporate and commercial forces to speak truth to the nation. Although its critical reputation improved, ultimately it was let down by lukewarm characterisation and a hectoring, righteous tone. There’s nothing like a finale, however, and tonight we might see some resolution to Jim and Maggie’s on-off relationship, while Jeff Daniels’s Will, just married and just jailed, is at the centre of action as ACN battle for one final scoop. David Stubbs
