Weddings Ireland: Sad day as popular Dublin celebrity figure that most married couples would know has died

It was a sad weekend in the capital as a popular Dublin photographer that most married couples would have come across during their wedding preparations sadly died.

A man said to have "photographed nearly every wedding in Dublin", Maurice Tuffin died peacefully in Lisheen nursing home late on Friday.

The Clondalkin native was considered a celebrity wedding figure among west Dublin locals whom he had snapped on their respective big days for nearly four decades.

And if you didn't have him as your photographer, he was most certainly recommended to you by others when you were looking.

He was also one of the first names on the list for those looking to have communions, confirmations, birthdays and any big event on camera for years to come.

Tributes poured in for Maurice whose hardworking days behind the lens are finally over.

One person expressed their grief saying: "Rest in Peace Mr.Tuffin. He did my wedding, all my children's christening, communion and confirmation photos. He was a lovely gentleman."

Another added: "Oh my, I only took down my wedding album this morning to show my granddaughter. Mr Tuffin did my album in 1982, we used to pay him every week. R.I.P Maurice Tuffin great photographer thinking of his family at this sad time."

A third said: "RIP to this great man. He did my wedding album 42 years ago in St Matthew's Church. He was a brilliant photographer. Thinking of all his family at this very sad time."
