Wedding RSVP branded 'tacky' for offering guests better food if they gift money

A bridezilla's wedding invite has been slammed as 'tacky' for offering her guests better food if they gift a big sum of money.

The controversial RSVP card asked guests to circle the amount of cash they intended to give to the bride and groom.

Those who decided to gift more money would end up with a better meal at the wedding, ranging from a simple chicken dish to lobster and champagne.

A photo of the RSVP was shared on Reddit's Wedding Shaming community - and people did not hold back their thoughts.

The card reads: "So that we may prepare your preferred dinner, please circle your gift level and indicate a meal choice for each person in your party."

It then goes on to break down four gift levels - loving gift, silver gift, golden gift and finally platinum gift.

The first level gets a guest a dinner of roast chicken or swordfish - but they have to pay up to $250 for it.

The silver gift will set guests back $251 to $500 - and they can choose from sliced steak and poached salmon.

The golden level, whichh requires guests to gift $501 to $1000, the option also includes filet mignon and lobster tails.

But if they're feeling really fancy, they could always gift $1001 to $2500 and dine on 2lb lobster while drinking from a souvenir champagne goblet.

Many Reddit users were appalled by the RSVP card, with some claiming the bride and groom were treating their wedding like a charity fundraiser.

One person said: "This seems more like something you would encounter at a charity dinner than at a wedding.

"It's still tacky and horrific, but it feeds into the ostentatious desire to flex on other donors found at some charity events."

Another commented: "I really hope this is for a fundraiser because if it's for a wedding, holee s**t."

A third wrote: "Everybody should just say their gift was over $1k, eat the 2lb of lobster, and laugh thinking about the couple opening their $40 toaster later."

Someone else pointed out: "No need to lie or cheat... I will go for the 1 dollar roasted chicken. Even beats Walmart with 3 dollars!"
