Lockdown Wedding Live to launch on Channel 4 as couples' plans are ruined by coronavirus

We had a feeling coronavirus might spark some bizarre TV show ideas and we have out first - Lockdown Wedding Live.

Yes you heard right - Lockdown Wedding Live.. The coronavirus pandemic has ruined plenty of UK couples' wedding plans with bans on mass gatherings for the forseeable future with many people's nuptials being cancelled or postponed as local authorities also imposing by a 20 person maximum on funerals.

And Channel 4 have seized the opportunity to use coronavirus-related disruption for a new TV show. TV critics tweeted about Lockdown Wedding on Wednesday morning, although many of their followers needed to be convinced it wasn't a hoax.

Outlining Channel 4's purported new TV shows during lockdown, Radio 5 presenter Scott Bryan tweeted:

UK coronavirus outbreak: How much could I get fined for breaking Boris Johnson's lockdown rules?

"Grime Gran has been given her own show on “how not to be a d**k” during the pandemic, airing daily at 11pm.

"Channel 4 will be hosting a ‘wedding in lockdown’

"Channel 4 News 90 minute on Mondays and fortnightly debates, special docs on the ongoing crisis."

Confirming the news as real and the show's title of Lockdown Wedding Live, Channel 4 said: "Channel 4 will also invite viewers to share in the wedding celebration of a couple who have had to cancel their big day plans in Lockdown Wedding Live, with Fred Sirieix (First Dates) overseeing proceedings for the whole country to enjoy."
