Wedding guests 'flying high as kites' after one tier of cake is laced with marijuana

A man has gone viral after baking a marijuana-laced wedding cake for his sister.

Wedding guests were apparently left 'high as kites' after 29-year-old Alvaro Rodriguez, of Santiago, Chile, laced one of the seven traditional-looking cake tiers with cannabis.

Alvaro spent a reported 20 hours making, baking, and decorating the elegant-looking cake, which was served up at his sister's wedding venue last month.

Although cannabis is illegal for all production and public consumption in Chile, it is legal for private-at-home consumption.

Alvaro's sister requested the unique wedding cake ingredient herself after having enjoyed sampling some “magical brownies” and all guests were made fully aware of what had gone into the special layer before tucking in.

Footage which has since clocked up more than 13 million views on TikTok, shows guests cheering as the new bride and groom slice into the innocent-looking wedding cake.

The video then cuts to around 20 out of the 100 wedding guests dancing around happily, laughing as the effects of the cannabis took hold.

One commenter remarked that they were "definitely doing this on my wedding [day]".

While another wrote: "Ok, I didn't want to get married, but now I've seen this, and I want to get married, then divorced, but I will already have been happy with my magical wedding cake".

Alvaro said: "It was good fun. Me and my sister had already tried magical brownies and the effect was very funny, so when she asked to have a bit for her wedding I didn't think twice. The magic level itself took me two hours and was pretty easy.

"I just infused it with the butter from the day before and once the brownie set I put it with the other levels with chocolate ganache, and voila.

"Everyone was made aware of it and after the cake was cut, we made sure it was kept apart from the others and served only to adults".

He continued: "The funniest reaction was my aunt. I remember her back hurt and two hours after eating cake her pain disappeared and she was up dancing like a teenager.

"I think cannabis cooking should be normalised a little more, both in culinary and medicinal terms. It has incredible effects on those who might need an alternative, both for physical and mental health".
