A Co Antrim wedding band has recorded a Christmas single in honour of a bride who later died from a rare form of cancer.
Pure Blarney, whose six members hail from Antrim and Ballymena , are hoping their version of It's Christmas Time will raise money for their chosen charities this festive season.
The two they have chosen are Boom, in honour of the young mum who passed away from the connective tissue disease in her 30s, and the Simon Community because of the numbers of homeless they see after gigging in Belfast.
Singer and electric guitarist DJ McAteer told Belfast Live: "We played a few years ago at this couple's wedding who are friends with our drummer and she sadly passed away with sarcoma which is a very rare type of cancer.
"She was in her early 30s and left her two wee children and a husband behind.
"They were close friends with our drummer - it is just so sad.
"We do different charity events throughout the year so this year we did a fundraiser for sarcoma. The other one was the Simon Community," he added.
"We would play at The Points in Belfast a lot and the crowd are all loving life but afterwards you would see four or five different ones sitting out on the street - it is just such a contrast.
"We set a modest goal of £500 for both charities and are getting near the half way point."
