The Israelis are hoping to defuse a heated row over the excavation of a site that is sacred to both Muslims and Jews with a webcam.
The project involves a ramp leading to what to Jews call Temple Mount but what Muslims call Haram-al-Sharif or Noble Sanctuary. The work at the Mugrabi Gate has already prompted protests at the site and much blog comment.
The webcam images are designed to allay Arab suspicions about what is occurring at the site.
Those suspicions are many. The Palestinian group Hamas said: "The Zionist enemy is engaging in trickery and continuing its digging. We don't trust these procedures."
But Israeli opinion is equally belligerent. Even if all the construction workers were certified imams there would still be riots, says Carl in Jerusalem.
Israel is urged here and here not to cave into threats. But according to Jesus del Norte the excavations are a provocation against 1.3 billion Muslims and may cause Islamic shrines to collapse. He adds: "Israeli archeologists are the loyal footsoldiers of official [Israeli] propaganda."
