Northern Ireland weather warning issued for strong winds

A yellow weather warning for strong winds has been issued for Northern Ireland.

The Met Office issued the warning on Thursday morning, to take effect from 3pm on January 12 until 3am on January 13.

The weather forecaster has warned that "strong winds may bring some disruption to transport and infrastructure" during this time.

It comes after Met Éireann issued a weather warning for strong winds in the Republic of Ireland in the coming days.

During the weather warning in Northern Ireland, the Met Office has warned there could be some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport, while some bus and train services could be affected with some journeys taking longer.

As well as this, they said some short term loss of power and other services is possible.

It's also likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts, and coastal communities will be affected by spray or large waves.
