Weather warning issued for thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and potential flooding

The Met Office have issued a weather warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain and potential flooding this weekend.

The yellow alert comes into force between noon and 10pm on Sunday as they warn unsettled conditions could cause some transport disruption and damage to buildings from floodwater and lightning strikes.

The warning covers all of central Scotland and northern England.

(Scott Watson)

It comes after lightning struck the city several times on Tuesday , with the Lightning Tracker App showing hotspots in Giffnock around 2.53pm, and again in Bilsland Drive, Ruchill at 3.56pm.

An incredible image from reader Scott Watson captured fork lightning over Springburn on Wednesday.
