Weather warning for severe wind and rain in place this week as Storm Brendan hits Glasgow

A yellow weather warning is now in place for Glasgow, with the Met Office warning of high winds and rain as Storm Brendan slams into the city.

Storm Brendan is the latest winter weather alert, with heavy rain and winds of up to 60mph set to blast most of Scotland on Tuesday.

Here in Glasgow, the severe weather warning comes into force at 6am on Tuesday (December 10) running until 3pm that afternoon.

The weather warning is for unsettled conditions that could cause some transport disruption, with the Met Office warning that heavy rain and gusty winds could lead to train and bus delays.

Forecasters are also urging drivers to take extra care, advising that spray and flooding on roads will likely make journey times longer.

The forecast reads: “Wet and windy on Tuesday, gales or severe gales around the coast. Heavy blustery showers Wednesday, wintry at times with the chance of hail and thunder. Winds easing on Thursday."
