Weather warning for ice in place across Nottinghamshire overnight after snow falls

A yellow weather warning for snow remains in place until 9pm tonight (December 4) across parts of Nottinghamshire.

Areas across Nottinghamshire experienced the first snowfall of the month today, with flurries seen dotted across the city and county and settling in some parts.

The Met Office said a mixture of rain, sleet, and snow will remain slow moving over the next few hours, causing tricky driving conditions.

A warning was first put in place at around 1.30pm on Friday December 4.

Heading into the weekend there is a yellow warning for ice in place for some parts of Nottinghamshire as the snow freezes overnight.

Icy patches are expected to form overnight.

The Met Office has warned this may cause some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces

It said there will probably be some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

The warning is in place from 9pm December 4 to 10am Saturday December 5.

It covers parts of Nottingham as well as the towns of Bingham and Newark. Lincolnshire, East Anglia and London are also affected.

Temperatures in Nottingham are forecast to reach a high of 5C by lunch time Saturday, according to the Met Office.

But it does not look like there will be any snow in the city, according to forecasters.
