SHIMLA: With more rainfall in store, Himachal Pradesh is facing the moderate risk of flashfloods at few places in next 36 hours.
The meteorological department has issued the warning for this. A red alert has been issued for lower and middle hills of the state for Tuesday and Wednesday, with a warning of heavy to very heavy with extremely heavy rainfall, thunderstorm and lightning likely at isolated places.
According to the warning, there is moderate risk in Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Kullu and and upper parts of Shimla.
According to the warning of 36 hours, surface runoff, inundation may occur at some fully saturated watersheds and low lying areas due to persistent rainfall.
Till July 30, there would be no respite from the heavy downpour in Himachal Pradesh as orange warning has been issued for Thursday and yellow warning has been issued for Friday. In this monsoon season, a loss of Rs 63 lakh has been reported in Bilaspur, Rs 120.455 lakh in Chamba, Rs 35.58 lakh in Hamirpur, Rs 293.64 lakh in Kangra, Rs 56 lakh in Kinnaur, Rs 201.72 lakh in Kullu, Rs 40 lakh in Lahaul-Spit, Rs 144.98 lakh in Mandi, Rs 145.55 lakh in Shimla, Rs 98.91 lakh in Sirmaur, Rs 67.84 lakh in Solan, and Rs 80.76 lakh in Una.
