Weather: Two days of 24C in Dublin as five-day scorcher comes to Ireland but big change to hit says Met Eireann

Met Eireann has promised two days of 24C in Dublin this week as a five-day scorcher hits the country.

But don't get used to it as next week is going to see a return to showers and rain for the capital.

Fridays and Sunday will hit the mid-20s mark while the week will see highs of 20C+ throughout.

Today will have sunny spells but cloud will steadily build through the morning.

It will stay dry and bright all day with temperatures topping 20C and only dropping to 15C overnight remaining mild and dry.

Met Eireann says it will be warm and dry with good spells of sunshine over the weekend but showers are promised for the early days of next week.

Here's the forecast for the next few days according to them:

"Patchy rain on Friday morning. The rain will clear through the afternoon with good sunshine following. Maximum temperatures reaching 22 to 24 degrees, with moderate southerly winds fresh on coasts through the morning, veering westerly by afternoon."

SATURDAY: "Mainly dry with long sunny spells. The slight chance of a shower or two in the northwest. Highs of 19 to 22 degrees in light winds."

SUNDAY: "Dry with good spells of sunshine. A warm day with highs of 20 to 24 degrees, perhaps a degree or two lower along the east coast in a light easterly breeze."

MONDAY: "Cloud increasing from the southeast with showers, mainly through Leinster and Munster. Highs of 19 to 22 degrees in a light easterly breeze."
