Weather Tomorrow June 24: IMD warns of heavy rain in Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Telangana and Karnataka; thunderstorms likely in Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan

Weather Tomorrow: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather warning as the southwest monsoon strengthens its grip across the country. Several states are expected to witness heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds on Wednesday, with wind speeds reaching up to 40 kmph in many regions.

The latest forecast comes as monsoon activity has picked up pace after a brief slowdown, bringing widespread rain to large parts of India and increasing the likelihood of weather-related disruptions in multiple states.

Heavy rain warning issued for multiple states

According to the IMD, heavy rainfall is likely over parts of Maharashtra, the Northeast, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, while several other regions are expected to receive moderate to widespread rainfall over the next few days. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are also forecast across many states.

Weather officials have advised residents in vulnerable areas to stay alert, especially in locations prone to waterlogging, flooding and falling trees during intense rain spells.

Thunderstorms and winds up to 40 kmph likely

Apart from rain, the IMD has warned of thunderstorms and lightning activity in several regions. Gusty winds of around 30-40 kmph are expected in many places, while some areas could witness stronger wind speeds during thunderstorm activity.

The weather department has highlighted the possibility of localized disruptions, including traffic delays, reduced visibility and temporary power outages in areas affected by severe weather.

Delhi-NCR may continue to see unstable weather

The warning comes a day after dust storms, strong winds and rain affected parts of Delhi-NCR. The IMD had issued a red warning for severe thunderstorms and rainfall in the region as weather conditions changed dramatically during the afternoon and evening.

For the coming days, Delhi is likely to experience partly cloudy skies with chances of light rain, thunderstorms, lightning and strong surface winds, particularly during afternoon and evening hours.
