Weather set to get warmer as we prepare for mini-heatwave this week

It's time to dust off those BBQs and pull out your shorts as Bristol is about to bask in glorious sunshine.

Last week saw temperatures dip to a cool 12C, as rain, thunderstorms and even hail battered large parts of the country.

But thermometers are set to rocket this coming week with the mercury hovering around a warm 19C in Bristol.

Daytime temperatures on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will continue to climb although under clear skies there will be some chilly nights.

Above-average temperatures should persist for most of the week, according to the Met Office.

However, enjoy it while you can because experts are predicting it will turn cloudy by Friday when the mercury will drop to 16C.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "A chilly start for some with isolated patches of mist around dawn, then fine and dry with long sunny spells.

"Winds generally light, although fresher for Cornwall and the south coast where it will feel cooler in the onshore breeze. Maximum temperature 19 °C."
