Weather: Nottingham to bask in 6-day heatwave in July but not before June wash-out

The UK is used to variable weather and June and July looks set to deliver the usual gamut of changeable climate giving Nottingham a taste of everything from 'monsoon' to mini 'heatwave'.

After June started with a bang and temperatures rose, the heat quickly fizzled out to leave rain and cloud this month.

Rain is predicted this week from Thursday, June 24 until Saturday June 26, with the Met office forecasting "changeable weather with rain or showers during Thursday" and "further showers likely on Friday possibly heavy and thundery at times."

Another forecaster said we should be ready for 2.5mm of rain around lunchtime on Sunday, June 27, 2021.

But blue skies and soaring temperatures are set to make a return in July.

According to Metcheck, Nottingham is on course for a mini 'heatwave' next month but not before 'monsoon-like' weather batters our spirits.

While at the beginning for July temperatures look a little disappointing, it's the rain you'll need to keep an eye on. On Friday, July 2, Metcheck predicts 4.5mm of rain to fall in the county adding 82% cloud and maximum temperatures of 19C to the forecast.

The following Friday will start another period of rain. The forecaster predicts 4.2mm of rain on Friday, July 9, maximum temperatures of 16C with the rain set in until Wednesday July 21.

But this is when good news comes our way. From Friday, July 23, until Wednesday, July 28, we could be basking in a mini 'heatwave'.

During this week, temperatures in Notts could feel like 27C although recorded figures on the thermometer may read a high of 25C, according to the weather expert.

Predicted temperatures according to Metcheck

  • Friday, July 23, Max 22C Feels like 24C
  • Saturday, July 24, Max 24C Feels like 26C
  • Sunday, July 25, Max 23C Feels like 25C
  • Monday, July 26, Max 24C Feels like 26C
  • Tuesday, July 27, Max 25C Feels like 27C
  • Wednesday, July 28 Max 24C Feels like 26C
