Londoners are set to bask in sunshine and mild weather for much of the week, following a damp and grey start to autumn.
After a grey Sunday and a foggy start to Monday, the outlook appears bright with a peak of 19C and mild sunshine expected throughout the day.
The Met Office predicts it’s a pattern which will last for much of the rest of the week, with the mercury rising to between 20C and 21C and no signs of rainfall.
Meteorologist Tom Morgan said: “Many of us will see the return of some late September sunshine through the course of today. There is going to be a little bit of rain in places though and that’s more especially so across Eastern and southeastern parts of England this afternoon.
“That’s courtesy of this band of cloud and patchy rain that's been pushing its way southeastwards through the course of this morning.
“But brighter skies are now following... and we’ll continue to see those sunnier skies as they work their way further south and eastwards across the UK this afternoon.
A cloudy end to the weekend in parts of East Anglia and the far southeast of England with some light rain in places 🌧️

Otherwise, plenty of late sunshine and staying fine this evening with clear skies allowing temperatures to fall away 📉🌓 pic.twitter.com/vDS2Z8brX7
“Any rain across the southeast tending to become very light and showery, most places turning dry and otherwise a mixture of cloud and fairly lengthy sunny periods, so a fine afternoon to come.
“Today, fairly close to average for the time of year with highs of 17C to 19C in the south, but feeling a little bit cooler than yesterday in the southeast and East Anglia thanks to that thicker cloud.
“In terms of temperatures (this week), again fairly close to average for the time of year but probably feeling a little bit warmer for parts of England and Wales compared to Sunday.”
