Weather forecast where you are as temperatures set to drop and thunderstorm warning issued

A weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued for parts of Wales marking the end of the country's spell of hot weather.

Met Office forecasters predict strong winds and heavy rain overnight on Sunday with the risk of thunderstorms for some in mid and northern parts of Wales.

The yellow warning is in place until 11pm on Easter Sunday.

Forecasters predict bank holiday Monday will be drier but with cloudy skies for most. These will clear towards the afternoon but temperatures will be around 13°C.

On Sunday temperatures reached around 20°C in Cardiff and 18°C in Swansea. But the mercury is set to drop and there is even the potential for a frosty start on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The latest Met Office weather forecast for Wales on Sunday night says: "Strong winds this evening with rain giving some heavy downpours and the risk of a thunderstorm, particularly for central and northern areas with southern parts drier.

"A cooler night with the rain easing but remaining rather cloudy for most. Minimum temperature 0°C."

The forecast for Monday reads: "A dry and breezy morning with mostly cloudy skies. In the afternoon the winds will ease as the cloud clears to give long periods of sunshine.

"On the cooler side. Maximum temperature 13°C."
