Brits face having their holiday plans ruined as they brace for a resurgence of coronavirus in Europe this summer.
In a dramatic shift, authorities announced that those returning from Spain would have to self-isolate for 14 days throwing the travel plans of millions into chaos.
The resulting confusion means that many Brits could end up holidaying in the UK for 'staycations' this summer - rather than escaping to sunnier climes.
Monday was a washout for many parts of the UK today, but warm and sunny weather is expected this weekend before low pressure once again returns.
Long-term forecasts are notoriously hard to predict but the Met Office has given a tentative outlook for those holidaying at home.
Meteorologists at the Met Office say August could be changeable with the start of the month likely to be the wettest and windest.

Their weather forecast says: "Through early August changeable weather is likely to continue with bands of rain, perhaps accompanied by strong winds, interspersed with brighter, showery conditions.
"However, all areas should have some dry spells, these most likely in the east, with a better chance of dry spells more generally late in the period. It is likely to be on the cool side for western areas, but with temperatures closer to average across the east and southeast.
"The second week of August is likely to see a mixture of dry and settled conditions, interspersed with occasional bouts of wetter and windier weather.
"The majority of the unsettled weather will most likely be in the north and west, though it may spread further south and east from time to time.

"Temperatures are likely to be around the average for this time of year, with any particularly warm weather being short-lived and generally towards the south or southeast.
"Looking further ahead into late-August, there are some tentative signs that conditions could become more widely dry and settled, particularly in the southeast."
Paul Knightley a senior forecaster with DTN said he expects rainfall and wind to be above normal with a few very wet and windy days likely.
He said: "Overall we're looking at a pretty unsettled month (August) and it being on the changeable side.
"There will be no real hot long dry spells but that doesn't preclude short dry spells in the second half of next month.

"We could be seeing the low thirties on Friday, but more unsettled patterns next week.
"We've had a pretty active tropical season this year which we find tends to result in more unsettled weather patterns.
"Maybe in September we could get calmer drier summer - people shouldn't lose hope of getting some finer weather later in the year."
This year's weather this July been markedly cooler than this time last year when the weather soared to 38.7C in Cambridge.
Temperatures are set to rise to 30C on Friday, making the UK hotter than Spain and finishing off a week that has started damp and breezy.
According to the Met Office the end of week will see the country basking in a 'very warm spell' with lots of sunshine and summer heat in the south east of England.
A spokesman told Mirror Online: "There will be an area of low pressure into the Atlantic that will bring the warm air over - but it will only be for a day.
"A cold front will sneak across on Saturday bringing temperatures down to 22C in Plymouth but expected to be a bit higher in the south east London at around 28C.
"Saturday will be sunny, blue skies with some sunshine and showers."
