Weather forecast Ireland: Country set for scorching week as temperatures rocket to 23C

Ireland will bask in glorious sunshine this week as temperatures soar to 23C.

While we're still going to see some showers, particularly in the west, Met Eireann believes we've a very dry and mild few days ahead.

But sadly it won't last for too long, with temperatures beginning to dip heading into next weekend.

A spokesman for the national forecaster said: "Mostly cloudy and dry this morning with sunny spells gradually developing through the middle of the day. It will remain cloudier however along south and west coasts with occasional patches of mist or drizzle. Mild with highest temperatures of 17C to 22C in moderate to fresh southwest winds, remaining strong in coastal areas of Connacht and west Ulster.

"Tonight will be mild, humid and mainly dry with some patches of mist and fog developing as winds fall off light. Lowest temperatures of 11C to 14C.

"Monday will be mild and humid. The eastern half of the country will remain mostly dry with some sunny spells through the day. It will be cloudier further west with showery rain developing at times in west Munster, Connacht and west Ulster. Highest temperatures of 18C to 22C in light to moderate southeast breezes.

"Tuesday will be warm, humid and mostly cloudy with scattered showers. The showers will be mainly over the western half of the country and the best of any sunny intervals will be in the east. Highest temperatures of 18C to 23C, warmest in Leinster with light variable breezes.

"Wednesday will continue mild and mostly cloudy with showery rain in places. There'll be a few bright intervals also. Highest temperatures ranging from 16 degrees in the northeast to 21C or 22C in the midlands and west with mostly light easterly breezes."
