As a heatwave grips the nation, there’s no sign of temperatures easing over the weekend in Greater Manchester with Saturday evening expected to be a sizzling 32C. Throughout the week, conditions have become hotter and drier with no respite from the wall to wall sunshine.
An amber warning for extreme heat remains in place for large parts of England Wales until midnight on Sunday. It warns that the heat poses a health risk, particularly for those who are vulnerable, as well as having an impact on travel and an increased risk of water safety and fire-related incidents.
According to the Met Office, conditions will stay hot and stuffy throughout Saturday evening and into the night in Manchester, with temperatures only dropping below 30C at 8pm. Overnight it will remain very warm, with a low of just 21C forecast at 4am, so it will be an uncomfortable night’s sleep for many.

Sunday is set to be another scorcher with temperatures expected to swiftly rise throughout the morning, reaching 27C by 11am and rising to 31C by 2pm. Conditions will remain sunny throughout the day with occasional cloudy spells.
There’s a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms at 5pm on Sunday afternoon, although it’s unlikely to bring any relief from the heat as temperatures will stay in the late 20s for much of the evening. It will be another warm night with a low of 21C forecast at 4am on Monday morning.
Monday will be cooler however with a high of just 24C predicted by the afternoon, offering some respite from the heatwave. A yellow warning for thunderstorms is in place for the whole of England and Wales from Monday morning at 10am and will remain in place for most of the country until midnight on Tuesday. This means there’s a slight chance of flash flooding and traffic delays.
The rest of the week is expected to be cloudy and cooler, with highs of 21C forecast in Manchester.
