Weather for Bristol in August shows risk of rain at start but a very warm spell at the end

Looks like we'll need the brollies out in August - at first keeping off the rain and then the sun. The Met Office forecast for the South West predicts rain at the start of the month but a 'very warm spell' at the end.

This weekend is going to feel warm and humid with the risk of showers. Daytime temperatures are forecast to be as high as 26C dipping down to 14C at night.

Next week has a risk of rain moving in from the west. Temperatures are set to be fresher on Wednesday.

Weekend outlook:

Today:

A rather cloudy day, though mostly dry. Perhaps some light rain or drizzle developing at times, most likely over the moors. The best of any bright or sunny spells across the east of the region. Feeling warm and humid. Maximum temperature 26C.

Tonight:

Mostly dry this evening, though rather cloudy. Overnight, outbreaks of rain will move in from the west, perhaps turning heavy at times. Very mild. Minimum temperature 14C.

Sunday:

A cloudy start, with outbreaks of rain. However, it will become drier and brighter as the day progresses, with some sunshine developing. Though the odd heavy shower may also develop. Maximum temperature 25C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Staying changeable. Increasing cloud through Monday, with the risk of rain moving in from the west. Breezy on Tuesday, with some showery rain. Fresher on Wednesday, with sunshine and showers.

UK long range weather forecast:

Wednesday 3 Aug - Friday 12 Aug

Wednesday will likely bring some patchy rain to the far north at first, but the cloud may break up and allow some sunny spells to develop. Cloudier elsewhere with the chance of some showers in south.

Potential for some stronger winds, especially in the north. The end of next week could bring some slightly cooler temperatures, especially in the north, with rain and showers in the east at first.

Become widely dry on Friday, with just the slight chance of some rain in the far north. This drier weather is likely to continue for many through the weekend and into the following week, with temperatures becoming near normal for many, perhaps warm or very warm in the south.

Saturday 13 Aug - Saturday 27 Aug

Dry weather likely to continue in this period for many. But still a chance of some periods of organised rain in the north which may make incursions further south at times, especially towards the end of the month.

For the south and southeast any precipitation is most likely in the form of showers and thunderstorms, although most areas are likely to be drier than average. Temperatures likely continuing to be widely above normal, with the potential for a very warm spell in the south.
