Weather: Dublin in for scorcher weekend as Met Eireann forecast gloriously high temperatures for Ireland

It's going to be a scorcher of a weekend as highs of up to 25 degrees are set to hit the capital.

Met Eireann have said we can expect a cloudy Friday - but that the grey is expected to fade by Saturday with temperatures continuing to rocket.

It's been a mixed week for Dublin with revellers out basking in the heat in between some odd, but very heavy showers.

But today will be dry with no reports of rain for the foreseeable future.

Experts said: "Today will be dry in Dublin with a mix of cloudy periods and sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 20 or 21 degrees with moderate northwest breezes.

"Tonight will be dry with a mix of cloudy periods and clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees.

"Saturday will be dry with sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 19 to 23 degrees with light northerly breezes, coolest in the north and warmest in the south.

"Sunday will be warm and dry with sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 20 to 25 degrees and mainly easterly breezes."

Looking into next week Ireland looks like it could have it's sunniest days yet.

As temperatures ramp up to as high as 25 degrees, early indications are Monday will be much the same - although Tuesday might be a "very showery day".
