'Wearing De Gea's gloves' - Fans react as Paulo Gazzaniga follows Man United keeper's howler

It has not been a day for goalkeepers.

One of the big games of the weekend came at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday and the London derby between Spurs and Chelsea was anything but a dull affair.

Matches between the two teams are often feisty, entertaining affairs and this one - the Blues' first visit to the new stadium in N17 - did not disappoint.

It was a disappointing start for the Tottenham faithful though, who were hoping to see their team pick up three points that would have seen them move above the Blues and into the top four for the first time this season.

Champions League: Who did English clubs draw in the last 16?

A sluggish start from the home side led to Willian opening the scoring the the visitors, curling home a fine effort from just inside the area following a short corner.

And it was 2-0 on the stroke of half-time after what can only be described as a rush of blood to the head from Spurs keeper Paulo Gazzaniga.

A ball over the top from Willian looked to be routine for the Argentinian, but he inexplicably decided to try and volley the ball away, rather than catching it, completely missing it and instead clattering into Marcos Alonso kung-fu style.

Referee Anthony Taylor initially pointed to a free-kick for Spurs, but VAR made the right decision and Willian dispatched the penalty.

That moment came just hours after Manchester United keeper David de Gea failed to catch an Ismaila Sarr shot, only succeeding in palming it into his own net.

That led to the big reaction above from football fans across social media.

So who had the worse Sunday? De Gea or Gazzaniga?

Neither had a good time, that's for sure, with Christmas coming early for both Watford and Chelsea.
