Wear your travelling spirit on your sleeve

Synonymous with travel, the Vacheron Constantin Overseas collection has been on a photographic journey with the watches captured in different locations by leading photographers in various countries

Thai fashion photographer Nat Prakobsantisuk journeyed to Haad Chom Dao (Star-Gazing Beach) in Na Tan, Ubon Ratchathani.

Naturally carved by the Mekong River, it's like a mini-Grand Canyon, and is more accessible during dry season to see the beach's fine white sand and rocky landscape.

Besides taking a picture of kids jumping into the river, Nat zoomed in on the pink gold Overseas Dual Time, whose silver-toned dial contrasts against the rocky formation.

In another snap, the elegant timepiece is placed against a textured tree trunk in Sukhothai Historical Park -- the ruins of the capital of the Sukhothai Kingdom in the 13th and 14th centuries -- and a Unesco World Heritage Site.

Nat's third set of images illustrates the country's wildlife through two stomping elephants while the watch was placed on wood for the shot.

The photography project, while illustrating Thailand's tourist attractions, also reflects on Vacheron Constantin's travel spirit.

Founded in 1755, the Swiss maison was already present on four continents, right from the 18th century. From its archives, a series of ledgers entitled "Encounters" recorded the sales of its watches overseas.

Besides the pink gold version, the 41mm Overseas Dual Time with a 60-hour power reserve is also available in steel with a silver-toned or blue dial.

The unmistakable design features a six-sided bezel evoking the emblematic Maltese cross, while the dial has a date display at 6 o'clock and an am/pm indication at 9 o'clock.

The hour hand indicates the local time corresponding to the traveller's current location, and the hand tipped with a triangular arrow shows the time in a reference time zone.

The simultaneous reading of two time zones by means of coaxial hands is enabled by the Caliber 5110 DT, a new mechanical self-winding movement developed and manufactured by the Geneva-based watchmaker.

Revealed by the transparent sapphire-crystal case back, the movement's oscillating weight is adorned with a wind-rose motif that symbolises the brand's travel spirit.
