'Weapons rammy’ near Scots football stadium sparked armed police response as probe launched

Two men allegedly seen ‘fighting with weapons’ near a Scots football stadium sparked an armed police response in Fife.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Links Street in Kirkcaldy shortly after 7pm on Monday after the alarm was raised.

Officers arrived but found no signs of the reported disturbance or anyone suffering from any injuries.

Police Scotland have confirmed their enquiries into the incident remain ongoing and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Pictures from the scene showed a number of units outside Raith Rovers' Stark's Park.

A statement from the force said: “Around 7.10pm on Monday, 2 August, police were called to a report of a disturbance involving two men with weapons in Links Street, Kirkcaldy.

“Officers attended and there were no signs of a disturbance or reports of anyone injured.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland through 101, quoting incident number 3031 of Monday, 2 August, 2021.

“Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
