Weapons including knife and stun gun found after street stop and search

Weapons and drugs were found after a police stop and search in Merseyside yesterday.

Police on patrol found a man carrying a large knife and drugs when he was stopped in Southport.

After searching the man's house, further weapons were found at the address including a stun gun.

Stolen items and more suspected drugs were also seized from the property and the man was arrested.

The discovery was made by police at around 7.30pm last night, on Tuesday, August 17.

Officers arrested the man for possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs, handling stolen goods, possession of an offensive weapon in private place and possession of a section 5 firearm.

Posting to Facebook, a Merseyside police officer said: "At around 7:30 pm last night officers from Sefton Targeted Team were conducting hi-visibility patrol in the Southport area.

"They had cause to stop and search a male who was found in possession of a bladed article.

"The male was taken to custody where he was subsequently found in possession of a large quantity of drugs.

"Officers have then conducted a search of the males house and a quantity of weapons, stolen items, drugs and a stun gun were recovered.

"The male was subsequently arrested for possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs, handling stolen goods, possession of an offensive weapon in private place and possession of a section 5 firearm."
