'Weapons' hidden in parks where children play


"Weapons" have been reportedly hidden in parks where children play.

Merseyside Police received reports from the community in South Sefton over concerns about weapons being hidden and drug dealing taking place.

Matrix disruption officers headed to parks this morning to carry out open land searches.

Police were pictured in Bowersdale Park in Seaforth, with patrols continuing to search the area.

Sefton Police Facebook page posted: "Matrix Disruption Officers have this morning carried out open land searches in the South Sefton area.

"One of these took place in Bowersdale Park in #Seaforth.

"This was completed after community concerns in regards to weapons being stored in the park and drug dealing.

"We will continue our patrols in the area and disrupt any criminality taking place.

Police received reports of hidden "weapons" (Merseyside Police)

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: “If you have any concerns about any weapons, drugs and other illegal items being stored, carried or used, come forward directly or anonymously.

"We’ll use all available powers to make our communities safer places to live, work and visit.”
