'Weapon' incident in Scots town as 'riot cops' scramble to scene

'Riot police' descended on a late-night 'weapon' incident in a Scots town.

Officers were called to the Craigneuk area of Wishaw, North Lanarkshire on Wednesday night.

The incident was still ongoing at around 11.15pm, according to The Scottish Sun.

Worried locals claimed that a weapon was involved and that riot cops sealed off the area.

A police helicopter was also spotted hovering over the residential area.

The nature of the incident has not yet been disclosed by cops.

It is not known if anyone was injured as a result.

The Daily Record have contacted Police Scotland for comment.
