Wealth manager appoints new head of charities for Scotland

Rathbone Investment Management has appointed Fiona Gillespie as its new head of charities for Scotland.

She joins from Anderson Strathern Asset Management, where she was the principal manager for a number of charities and foundations. Gillespie's 25 years in investment management also includes more than 13 years with Aberdeen Asset Management.

She also is a long-standing member of the charity sector in Scotland, with board positions at the Children’s Hospice Association of Scotland, also sitting on their Finance Audit and Risk Committee, The Stafford Trust and the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations.

Gillespie said: “In Scotland, we are blessed with a sizeable charitable sector, providing vital services, funding and support across our communities. I am delighted to join Rathbones at such an exciting time, building on the great work the team have already been doing over a number of years.

"We shall be focusing on developing our investment proposition further, offering our clients an institutional level of service with a private client feel. With a rich history of investment management in Scotland, Rathbones is already a well-established player and I am excited to help raise the profile of the team and put us firmly on the map for our work with charities.”

Simon Dewar, a regional director of Rathbones in Scotland, said: “Fiona will be a valuable addition to the team in Scotland, bringing to us her great experience of working with charity clients.  As a passionate supporter of charities, Fiona’s appointment will help us consolidate our position as a trusted adviser to the sector in Scotland.”
