'We wouldn't have asked' - Jurgen Klopp fires Premier League message after Liverpool trio ruled out with Covid-19

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says he had no intention in asking the Premier League to postpone the Reds’ game with Newcastle after three of his players tested positive for Covid-19.

Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Curtis Jones are all missing for Liverpool tonight but the German boss added his squad were ready to play the game.

Klopp has called for clarity in the Premier League as to what warrants a game to be postponed with Covid cases.

“I think at one point we have to make clear what exactly the rules are but of course with three players out of that squad we wouldn’t have asked to not play a football game,” said Klopp.

“It's just we don’t know anything about any other club. Newcastle had no idea that we had cases.

“I think we had no idea if they had cases or not or this kind of thing. It’s just getting a bit of conversation but for us of course we didn’t think about that.”
