We went to Dublin Airport days after chaotic delays left passengers furious and it was a different story

Just days after some passengers missed flights due to Dublin Airport security delays, the situation was very different on Tuesday afternoon.

Entering terminal one at 4pm, despite just one security queue being open, the whole thing took less than ten minutes - a far cry from the weekend chaos.

Images on social media showed long lines of travellers waiting to get through security checks in order to continue to their gates.

One frustrated passenger said: "Missed my flight this morning on account of the obscene overcrowding and delays in security, I was in the queue when it was advertised as a 35 minute wait this later changed to 45. I finally got through after 1 hour and 20 mins but my gate had closed."

But this was not the case on Tuesday - although you would expect it to be considerably quieter than a weekend in Dublin Airport.

Once in the airport the experience is much the same as before Covid with the obvious addition of masks everywhere unless you are dining.

It comes after many passengers slammed the airport for the delays last weekend with some missing flights and others taking hours to get through to their gate.

In a statement on Sunday, the DAA said: “is experiencing lengthy queues for security screening this morning.

“Additional resources have been deployed to the area & we expect the situation to ease shortly.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience.

"Our teams are working hard to help you on your way.”

Passengers are also being warned to arrive up to three hours early in case of the delays experienced on Sunday.

Ryanair are telling their customers: “Due to possible long waiting times at security control, please arrive at Dublin Airport at least 3 hours before your scheduled departure time.”
