We went to an Edinburgh Aldi to try to get our hands on the viral Prime drink

A popular new drink endorsed by celebrities has been flying off the shelves in Edinburgh, with some bottles even being resold for over £10. Aldi announced they would be stocking the drink for a limited time only in an exclusive deal.

The viral £1.99 Prime Energy drink, created by YouTube stars KSI and Logan Paul, has seen huge demand across the UK since its launch earlier this year.

So we headed down to our local Aldi store at Cameron Toll to try and get a bottle as it would be in stock from today (December 29.)

The Cameron Toll Aldi isn't the biggest store but it is also not the most well-known so I thought there might be a chance it had been forgotten when fans stormed stores this morning.

On arriving the whole shopping centre was busy and I headed straight to the back aisles where the special buys usually are. I had a quick scan around but couldn't see it advertised so found a shop assistant to ask.

But another customer was one step ahead of me and was told that they had sold out this morning before I even had a chance to ask.

It was definitely already too late when we drove to the store at around 10.30 am, and it is unclear whether more will be in stock tomorrow or if it was all put out this morning.

Locals in the capital said that they were successful in getting the juice from the Gorgie store at around the same time I tried this morning without any queues or chaos.

While residents in Musselburgh hit out after people were skipping queues and pushing in to get a bottle.

Prime Energy is marketed as a low-calorie hydration drink that contains no added sugar. It is mostly made up of water, coconut water, vitamins, and minerals. It comes in a wide variety of flavours but is not an energy drink as it does not contain caffeine.

The drink was only available at Asda with a limit of up to three bottles per customer when it went on sale in October.

While Prime is seen as a better alternative to other hydration drinks as it has no added sugar, it does contain artificial sweeteners and preservatives.

YouTube stars and former boxing rivals KSI and Logan Paul say on the official website that they came together “to create a fantastic hydration drink that can fuel any lifestyle”.
