'We want them to stay here' - Steve Bruce on Matty and Sean Longstaff's future

Newcastle United are hoping for a positive outcome from contract talks with Sean and Matty Longstaff as the club aim to extend their deals on Tyneside.

The Magpies face losing Matty Longstaff for just £400,000 as things stand with interest growing in the midfielder from around Europe.

Both Inter Milan and AC Milan have been credited with interest in the teenager, but any such transfer now cannot take place until the summer.

Both brothers have been made offers to stay at Newcastle with Steve Bruce emphasising that he sees the pair as key members of his squad going forward.

With talks at a critical stage with managing director Lee Charnley, Bruce does not want to comment too much.

But did tell the Chronicle when asked: "Look we want them to stay here. They are both Geordie lads.

"But this is where we are at the moment"

Matty Longstaff's deal runs out on July 1 but Sean Longstaff is currently tied down to a contract until 2022.

Bruce has confirmed that both brothers will start in the crunch FA Cup replay with Oxford tonight at the Kassam Stadium.
