Manchester United fans are demanding answers after the latest twist in Anthony Martial's saga that came after Saturday's 2-2 draw with Aston Villa.
The Frenchman wasn't a part of the matchday squad for the trip to Villa Park with Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford also absent.
Bruno Fernandes' brace proved to be in vain as Steven Gerrard's side staged a late comeback through Jacob Ramsey and Philippe Coutinho as both sides shared the spoils.
With United continuing to struggle on the pitch, there is a situation bubbling off it after Ralf Rangnick confirmed that Martial missed the draw after 'not wanting' to be a part of the squad. Martial has hit back, claiming he would never refuse to play for United.
As a result, fans are split amid the confusion and have made their feelings clear.
"He didn't want to be in the squad," Rangnick said post-match.
"He would have been in the squad normally but he didn't want to and that was the reason why he didn't travel with us yesterday."
Martial responded via his Instagram story. He said: "I will never refuse to play a match for Man United.
"I've been here for seven years and I never disrespected and never will disrespect the club and the fans."
Last month, Martial's agent expressed his clients desire to leave the club after a lack of game time which has seen him make two just Premier League starts this season. Sevilla have shown an interest in loaning the Frenchman this month.
