We visited Dublin's newest Lidl store and were amazed by its unique features

Here is a look at the nation's newest Lidl store opening this morning with a unique feature separating it from any other.

We visited the new store in the early hours of this morning to be one of the first people to take a glimpse at the museum like feature built in to the store on Aungier Street, Dublin.

Built into the floor of the supermarket are huge glass panels showcasing the wonderful archaeological secrets hidden beneath.

The grounds date back to the 11th century and Lidl has invested heavily to protect the historical structures that would have been forgotten otherwise.

Beneath one glass panel, the 18th Century Aungier Theatre staircase can be viewed while another shows the 11th century sunken floored structure.

And lastly, 18th century Longford Street Arches can be admired from inside the brand new shop.

Dublin GAA ladies star Sinéad Goldrick officially opened the new state-of-the-art Lidl store - the fourth to serve the community in Dublin city centre.

It has brought 24 new jobs to the city and an investment of over €3 million during difficult times in the economy.

The new Lidl's Store Manager Konrad Dudek said it was fantastic to finally open the super chain's 164th store in Ireland.

He said: "The past number of months have been challenging for everyone so it is nice to have some good news to share.

"It's even nicer that we can bring quality produce at unbeatable prices to our customers in Dublin City as we have throughout the country for the past 20 years."

He added: "The team and I look forward to meeting and serving the community of southside Dublin City."
