'We’ve seen it all season' - Brendan Rodgers makes Leicester admission and Liverpool claim

Former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has refused to draw attention to the Premier League title race, soon after his Leicester City side went top of the table.

The Foxes rounded off a relatively comfortable evening against Chelsea with a 2-0 victory at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night.

That result still leaves Liverpool in fourth place in the table, but they are now four points off top spot with a game in hand ahead of Thursday’s clash at home to Burnley.

Rodgers has been in this situation before, with Leicester at the business end of the table last season before fading away in the second half of the campaign.

And not to forget, he was in charge of Liverpool in the well remembered 2013/14 season, where he narrowly missed out on the Premier League title by just two points.

Despite Leicester being in a strong position with half of the season’s league fixtures now played, Rodgers refused to get too carried away at this relatively early stage of the campaign.

“I don’t really think about it,” Rodgers told Leicestershire Live, when asked if his side are title contenders. “It’s something that gets floated about.

“We’ve seen it all season, Tottenham a few weeks ago were maybe winning the title or were up there challenging, Chelsea, five or six weeks ago everyone was talking about them.

“People will associate it with us because we’re up and about it and consistently playing well.

“You've got the quality of Man City, who are amazing, Liverpool the champions, Manchester United have been great, so for us to look and see Leicester City up and around that with the levels of team that are there, that makes me really happy.

“It’s going to be a huge challenge for us to be up there, but we’re happy to take on that challenge. That’s what we’ll look to do.”
