'We've lost' - Chelsea fans can't believe what Thomas Tuchel has done for Newcastle United clash

Thomas Tuchel has locked in his Chelsea starting XI to face Newcastle United, and he has left Chelsea fans stunned.

Tuchel will be hoping to extend his unbeaten run as Blues head coach to six games this evening by making it five straight wins in all competitions.

Chelsea are up against a Newcastle side hovering above the drop zone, but the Magpies do have a seven-point gap over nearest challenger Fulham.

Steve Bruce's men arrive at Stamford Bridge with a little wind in their sails after beating Southampton last time out, but the Blues will be hoping they have enough to send them home empty-handed.

Chelsea injury news ahead of Newcastle

And ahead of the clash, Tuchel has made a surprise decision in his starting lineup, starting the much-criticised Kepa Arrizabalaga over Edouard Mendy.

Kepa has barely had a look-in since Mendy's arrival late in the summer transfer window, but he starts for the second straight game here after coming in for the FA Cup win over Barnsley.

Elsewhere, Timo Werner returns from injury to start just behind Tammy Abraham up top, and it's as expected elsewhere with Marcos Alonso and Callum Hudson-Odoi starting as wing-backs, while Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger playing in central defence. Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho start in midfield with Mason Mount just ahead.

Here's what Chelsea fans have had to say about tonight's starting lineup on Twitter.

Kepa has come under intense scrutiny this season following his struggles at the start of the campaign which saw him replaced by Mendy after Chelsea felt they had to bring in another goalkeeper amid the Spaniard's struggles.

The £72million signing hasn't played until matchday five in the Premier League, having to settle for cup action, but it seems he has his chance to prove himself here after Tuchel made it clear he would be giving Kepa a fresh start.

Chelsea starting XI in full (3-4-2-1): Kepa, Rudiger, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Hudson-Odoi, Alonso, Kovacic, Jorginho, Mount, Werner, Abraham.
