'We've got Mesut Ozil!' - Arsenal fans react to Unai Emery's team selection for Liverpool

Unai Emery has picked Mesut Ozil to start tonight as Arsenal travel to Anfield in the Carabao Cup.

The German has not featured for the Spaniard in over a month with his last appearance in the 5-0 rout of Nottingham Forest in September.

The World Cup-winner won't captain the side, however, as the armband will be donned by Hector Bellerin at right-back.

Emery has named a rotated side with Shkodran Mustafi, Rob Holding and Sead Kolasinac completing the back four.

Ahead of them, Lucas Torreira returns to the starting line-up playing next to Joe Willock at the base of Arsenal's midfield. They will be tasked of handling former-Gunner Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and his midfield partners Adam Lallana and Naby Keita.

Ozil will take up the No.10. position being flanked by Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Bukayo Saka.

Arsenal 2-2 Crystal Palace: Unai Emery press conference in full

Maitland-Niles has hit a rough patch recently but playing games is the only way he can get back on the right track. The initial wonder around Saka has also worn off but facing the inexperienced Neco Williams, he could be in for a good night.

Gabriel Martinelli starts up top and after scoring five goals in his first six Arsenal games, playing in front of Ozil could help him flourish even more

Mesut Ozil has played just twice this season but a game against Liverpool could be the perfect reintroduction.

Throughout his Arsenal career the 31-year-old has starred home and away against the Reds; scoring iconic goals at the Emirates and stealing Anfield's breath with his style.

Arsenal fans are hoping he continues in this vein to book a place in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
