We've bin had – paperless policy vexes BBC staff

Bins
There they are – the lack of bins at New Broadcasting House has annoyed many BBC staff members. Photograph: Christopher Furlong/Getty Images

There has been a fair amount of trashing going on within BBC News and current affairs since the Jimmy Savile scandal began – and now Monkey hears of another rubbishing-related topic vexing some staff at New Broadcasting House in central London. Namely the lack of bins. Because the state-of-the-art NBH newsroom is supposed to be a paperless office, there are no bins by desks. Instead, hacks have to trek to the so-called "resource hub" to get rid of waste. However, apparently some people could not locate the hub, so it is being painted red to make it stand out. Rumours the bins were removed in case they were used as offensive weapons between Newsnight and BBC editorial policy staff are wide of the Monkey mark.
