We've all been washing our hair wrong according to a hairdresser

Hair washing is something that we all do on a regular basis but according to one hairdresser we have all been doing it wrong.

Despite years of practice, many people still aren't washing their locks "like a pro". That's where Amy comes in - a mum and former hair stylist who has people re-thinking how to scrub their scalp.

Taking to TikTik, on her @amy.does.some.hair account, Amy showed her followers the "proper" way to wash their hair. The two-step process includes first applying a regular amount of shampoo, before rinsing, then going in for a second time focusing on your scalp.

In the video she explained the process, as she said: "Thoroughly wet your hair, spread the shampoo over your hands and evenly distribute the shampoo all over your scalp. "Using the tips of your fingers, massage the shampoo all over your scalp. Don't miss your hairline or nape.

"Rinse and repeat. Focus on the scalp. Use the suds to gently pass through the ends."

After rinsing the second round of shampoo, you just need to condition it as normal - making sure to avoid the roots - and you should be all set. Amy added: "Apply conditioner to the ends, avoiding the roots. Let it sit for a minute or two, [then do a] cool rinse if you can stand it."

Her followers tried it for themselves and were shocked by the results. Kirstie said: "I have oily hair and actually noticed a difference shampooing twice! Felt and looked cleaner."

Another user said: "So I was curious and tried this. an my hair is super soft and feels cleaner??? Like excuse me what."

Meanwhile, Mille said: "Yes! My life changed when I did it twice, well actually I use a scrub for my scalp first and then shampoo but no more dandruff for me!!"
