We try Glasgow's new camel milk coffees in Glasgow Live taste test

Who knew it Glasgow? Camel milk cappuccinos, or 'camelcinos', are now a thing.

That's because as part of a Department for International Development initiative, the famous Willow Tea Rooms on Buchanan Street are now serving up traditional coffees, with a twist.

We took a trip along to the tea rooms earlier to give it a go, where we were met by a Kenyan camel, as well as dozens of coffee-mad customers keen to give the new blend a go.

For those of you have never had the opportunity to try camel milk before, it is known for tasting a little salty, yet creamy and refreshing, and in truth, a lot like the regular cows' milk we see stacked on all supermarket shelves across Glasgow.

Could we tell the difference between camel milk and regular milk coffees? Press play on the video above for Glasgow Live's taste test.

And the quirky beverages have arrived in Glasgow for a good cause. The drinks went on sale in Scotland for the first time today to highlight a UK aid funded Mercy Corps project helping farmers in Kenya.

Over 140 female Kenyan traders in rural areas are being given a ladder out of poverty thanks to the initiative, by helping them distribute their camel milk and boost its shelf life by supplying them with refrigerated vending machines to keep it fresh.
