We tried the Thatcher's slushies in Bristol that are perfect for the summer

A pub in Bristol has started selling Thatcher's slush puppies just in time for the summer season and people are loving them. Up to six different flavours of Thatcher's cider are available in a slushy format at The Lodekka in Brislington this summer.

Choose from gold, haze, rose, blood orange, berry or lemon and get yourself the perfect refreshment. The summer slushy was advertised on Facebook by the Hungry Horse chained and attracted the attention of thousands of people from across the Bristol region who are desperate to get their hands on one once the sun starts shining again.

We decided to try them for ourselves and find out whether they really live up to the hype or not. The short answer is yes, this is one of the best tasting drinks I've ever tasted and I've tasted a lot of cider!

I opted to try the berry flavour and also the newly released blood orange flavour. The pint glasses were filled to around the three-quarter mark before being topped up with a strawberry slush mixture from the machines. Other flavours on sale were topped up with different slush flavours.

My first instinct felt it was a bit wrong to be drinking a slush puppy drink when the weather forecast has been leaving frosty cars and grass to wake up to in the most recent week, but this thought was quickly eradicated once I tasted it.

It simply doesn't taste like cider. It's ridiculously easy to drink and it's extremely refreshing. The berry flavoured one was my preference of the two and it felt like juice at points as it was going down so easily.

Priced at £4.45 per Thatcher's slushy, it's a very dangerous game to be playing this summer as you simply can't taste the alcohol despite the fact the majority of it is made up of alcoholic cider.

Flavours of the drink were erupting in my mouth, it was a lot easier to drink than a normal pint and that was when the sun wasn't even shining. I can't even begin to imagine how quickly you'd get through a pint glass when the mercury rises.

The Lodekka in Brislington isn't the only place that appears to be offering Thatcher's slushies this summer either. People were pictured purchasing a refreshing drink at Bristol City's Aston Gate over the most recent weekend - although they were slightly more expensive at £4.80.

We'd highly recommend trying one of these drinks throughout the summer period this year. It certainly doesn't get anymore Westcountry than this does it?
