Nines Global Buffet has been in Swansea's Castle Street since 2016, but that didn't stop it from being the place to be one evening in February.
On Valentine's Day long queues formed outside the all-you-can-eat restaurant.
So, to see what all the fuss was about, we decided to try out the popular eatery.

Knowing the venue had a one food hygiene rating, I wasn't overly enthusiastic about trying it, but hopefully that will change in the future.
Entering the venue, I was greeted by a friendly staff member who was incredibly helpful, considering it was my first time there.

Food from all around the world sounds ideal for a lunch-time getaway and seemingly a good idea when accounting for several members of a party, ideal for a family.
The £9.99 cost for one adult at lunchtime seemed, at first, slightly steep, but when considering you can refill your plate as many times as you want - you could arguably easily get the most out of your money.
You descend down the stairs of the restaurant into a lower floor, not something I would suggest for anyone with space issues but it had its own charm.
Places to eat near where you live:
Staff were friendly and welcoming, enjoying conversation and always busy clearing remaining tables.
We weren't the only ones within the restaurant just after midday - around a dozen were also enjoying the widespread choices of cuisine on offer.
Drinks were not included within the entry but a refillable glass for £2.50 didn't seem to warrant much complaint, although it was not a branded soft drink I have ever tried before.

There were trays of English, Chinese and Indian food, seemingly little fish other than prawns, but I always thought fish was a typical no-go for buffets.
I decided to go with familiar favourites on my first plate - chips, egg fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, peking ribs, salt and pepper balls and some salt and pepper asparagus.
The food was somewhat greasy and lukewarm, most likely from being left in the tray for some time but It was nice to get a wide choice.
The sweet and sour chicken seemed a real favourite for others within the restaurant and tasted quite enjoyable, not quite as good quality as your favourite Chinese takeaway though.

The bulk made items did seem to have an equal amount of good to the bad - each mouthful you weren't sure if you were going to get dry food or not.
Clearing the plate, I had room for more - the option of getting back up for seconds was inevitable and I opted for some noodles this time with more sweet and sour chicken.
Quantity over quality is the best way to describe it - you get a few enjoyable mouthfuls and a few less so, but the option to refill your plate as many times as possible was something being taken advantage of by many in the restaurant.
Sadly, the unusual branded cola was seemingly flat and didn't aid me with all the grease left in my stomach.
Despite that, I hadn't realised the eatery was as popular as it was with numerous people coming and going throughout the day. Staff remained incredibly friendly and helpful and assisted whenever necessary. Upon leaving they were gracious for the custom and wished us well.
For £9.99, I can see the appeal of getting different cuisines with an unlimited plate, but quality was lacklustre.
I'm not sure I would take my significant other for a meal there and leave still in a relationship, but if you like food and lots of it, this is definitely the place to go.
