Harry Potter fans have welcomed the release of an augmented reality app - meaning unusual activity can be expected to hit the city's pavements and parks.
Three years on from the launch of Pokemon Go, smartphone users have been excitedly downloading Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.
Not wishing to miss the bandwagon, a number of Potter fans in the Bristol Live newsroom gave the app a try yesterday (Friday, June 21), shortly after the game became available.
The app, made by Pokemon Go creator Niantic, allows users to see magical objects superimposed over the real world using the smartphone camera.
The storyline calls on gamers to find the wizarding objects and return them to their rightful place before 'muggles' see them.
Niantic will be hoping the app can follow the example set by the hugely successful Pokemon Go , which has been downloaded more than a billion times since 2016, generating more than $2 billion.
