'We think it’s good news' - Injury to Notts County's Damien McCrory not as bad as first feared

Notts County have received positive news over Damien McCrory after his knee injury was not as bad as first feared.

The Irishman had to limp off during the 2-1 win over Yeovil last weekend which left Neal Ardley worried he had damaged his meniscus.

That would have potentially ruled the former Burton Albion defender out for the rest of the season at a time when Notts are chasing promotion and a place in the FA Trophy final.

But after further assessment, he is now expected to be ruled out for upto a month.

It still leaves Notts without an authentic left-back with Zoumana Bakayogo facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a groin injury.

Ardley says he is now looking to strengthen that position but was relieved to hear that McCrory will be back quicker than first antcipated.

“We think it’s good news about Damien,” he said.

“It could be a two to four week job and hopefully that will be the case.

“It was more of a sprain more  rather than any serious damage.

“But it is a position we are trying to strengthen among  other areas of the squad.”
